With Earth Day upon us, there’s no better time to explore the myriad environmental and health benefits to going solar.
Unlike conventional energy, which relies on fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, solar energy does not emit any harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. Thus, solar reduces air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and radioactive waste.
In addition, a typical solar panel system eliminates three to four tons of carbon emissions annually – the equivalent of planting more than 100 trees each year. Currently, Arizona provides a 10 percent tax credit, up to $1,000, to offset the cost of installation.
